UNSW is a leader in water research, bringing together world-class expertise and cutting-edge facilities to tackle global environmental challenges. The Faculty of Engineering houses state-of-the-art analytical and pilot-scale testing equipment at the UNSW Water Research Centre and the UNESCO Centre for Membrane Science and Technology on the Kensington Campus, while large-scale modelling and testing take place at the Water Research Laboratory in Manly Vale. These capabilities are further strengthened by interdisciplinary contributions from the Faculties of Science, Law, and Arts, Design & Architecture, making UNSW one of Australia’s largest hubs for water research. Building on this foundation, the UNSW Centre for Transformational Environmental Technologies (CTET) in Yixing, China, extends the university’s impact beyond Australia, turning research into real-world solutions. By collaborating with academics from Engineering, Science, and Art & Design, CTET accelerates prototype development and advances technology readiness, ensuring that innovations in water sustainability and environmental technologies create meaningful change for communities and industries worldwide.
