Introduction
___
Electro-Fenton (E-Fenton) is a promising technology for the treatment of persistent organic pollutants, in which H2O2 is produced via 2e- oxygen reduction and is simultaneously activated into •OH by the iron-based catalyst. The E-Fenton system can be operated alone to treat industrial wastewaters with high COD that cannot be directly treated by biochemical process, and also can be incorporated into other wastewater treatment systems to increase the efficiency.
Competitive advantage
___
E-Fenton system is a further innovation in traditional Fenton technology.
- No chemicals addition. Fe catalysts can be generated at the sacrificial anode and H2O2 can be formed at cathode via oxygen reduction reactions.
- In addition to the •OH mediated oxidation processes, electro flocculation, electro flotation, cathodic reduction, anodic oxidation and electro adsorption processes can also be occurred in E-Fenton system.
- The amount of sludge can be reduced by 50%~70%
- Mild reaction conditions, simple equipment, small footprint, short residence time, full-automatic operation.
Applications
___
- The pretreatment of high concentration organic wastewater to decrease COD and degrade organics with high molecular structure into small molecular organic substances that are easy to be biodegraded. E-Fenton is easily combined with other methods to realize the comprehensive treatments of wastewater.
- The advanced treatment of organic wastewater after biochemical treatment. E-Fenton system can directly oxidize refractory organic pollutants into carbon dioxide and water to discharge up to standard.
- A variety of organic wastewater with high concentration, high color, high toxicity and refractory organic pollutants in chemical, pharmaceutical, pesticide, dye, fine chemical and other industries.
